| On February 18, there was a car show
held in Hemet, which is about 25 miles from the house. The show was
hosted by Farmer Boys restaurant, known for their world famous hamburgers
and they had a very good turn out that night. The Santa Anna winds had
been blowing all day around here and it seems like the wind blows or it
rains only on the weekends for the past three months. After a phone call to a friend that
lives over in that area, the word was that the wind wasn't blowing over there, so we packed up the cars and headed
that way. I forgot the camera
before I left the house so please forgive me as I talk you through it.
Larry had a new passenger with him this time as he
brought along his nine month old grandson, Brendan. Turns out Larry was
the baby sitter that day and I guess it's never to early to get kids
interested in cars, so he brought him along. I had forgotten how much
attention kids of that age needed once we arrived but Larry did an excellent job with
him. I even got to push Brendan around in his stroller for awhile and I
showed him a few cars that night too.
There were about 80 cars that showed up and some
of them I haven't seen before (it's always nice to see fresh cars from
time to time). A couple of the cars that stood out were a 1937 Ford
Coupe and a 1932 Ford Coupe. The 37 was a two-tone light and dark green
with a creamy white leather interior. The 32 was all black with a rat rod
theme to it. And the 37 Ford won a Top Ten award that night, which was
well deserved.
We had dinner while we were there, which was very
good and we both won raffle prizes too. I ended up winning a Top Ten
award that night which was really cool. We both had a good time and the
weather was excellent. They have this show once a month and I'm sure
I'll be at a few more this year.

| Two weeks later on March 4, we went to
another show over in San Jacinto which is about 20 miles away and it was
held at Farmers Corner. The wind was really bad all weekend long and many
houses had their roofing tiles blown off along with tree branches
breaking all over town. I had several of my tiles end up in my front yard
too but the good
news is that they blew off in a section that is over the front porch.
Once again I forgot to bring along the camera so I'll have to talk you
through this show too.
This show is one of Larry's favorites because of
the people that run it and for some of the people that show up. He
brought along his granddaughter, Chevelle, this time. Chevelle is five
years old, very well behaved and is she ever a cutie. My wife and
Chevelle hit it off that day as they hung out for most of the show,
coloring and checking out the show. They
have a small raffle and 50/50 drawing along with some good BBQ. About 45
cars showed up and a lot of them are from the Valley Cruiser's Car Club,
which is also who sponsors the show. Larry
and I both won a raffle prize and I also won Best of Show that day. The trophy
is about 18" tall and looks way cool. The weather was so nice over
there that it's hard to believe that only a few miles away, the wind was
blowing shingles off my roof. Let's hope for no more wind for our next
show.
